As an established winery operating for over two decades, it was time for Domaine de Grand Pré to modernize their online presence to take advantage of their increasing traffic. The project was much more than completing a migration to Shopify; it involved a deep exploration of their brand positioning, optimizing their content, and an incorporation of the full winery estate experience for their online customers.

Working through their brand repositioning exercise during the redesign of their Vintner’s Reserve labels, it was established that simplicity, approachability, and elegance were defining factors of their products. The defining characteristics of the family’s story, Le Caveau Restaurant, and the vibrant old-world charm of the winery had to be incorporated into the design.

Giving a fresh take on the family’s classic brand

To refine Domaine de Grand Pré’s classic branding and bring cohesiveness across their presentation, their vibrant gold and green logo colors were simplified to all black. A new monogram was introduced to be used as their favicon and has since been printed on their wine capsules. A minimal and neutral color palette was developed to reflect the terroir and history of the winery.

An issue that arose while determining key UX/UI elements was the high frequency of inquiries regarding the wine shop and restaurant hours. We developed a custom widget to hold this information on every page. The content is easily manageable by the restaurant for updating hours based on the seasons or private events.

A streamlined approach

Domaine de Grand Pré’s products are loved by many worldwide and now, with their new responsive website, they can easily update their content, streamline their process and expand their customer reach.
